I’m so happy, guys. Why, you may ask?
Because after FIVE (practically six) days alone with my two little homies, ALEX COMES HOME FROM HIS BUSINESS TRIP. The heavens have opened and God is smiling upon me – I made it through the week. I am a badass. But badassery aside, I cannot wait for the sweet, sweet relief it will be to pick up the man from the airport and finally be able to get ready for bed uninterrupted.
Welcome to Kocktails with Karly – lets drink!
Homebound with little ones this week I knew I had to choose a cocktail that I already had all the ingredients for… aka THE PALOMA. I’ve been dying to make a Paloma for ages and, miracle of miracles, I had everything I needed!
Well, actually…. Not really.
The Paloma calls for tequila and grapefruit soda. I am not a soda drinker, therefore I was missing a key ingredient. However, being the crafty bitch that I am, I made my very own with soda water, fresh grapefruit juice, and simple syrup – and it was far superior to anything grapefruit soda could have brought to the cocktail table!
- 2oz tequila
- 1tbsp simple syrup
- Squeeze of lime
- 2oz (or more) grapefruit juice
- Soda water
- Add tequila, simple syrup, and grapefruit juice to glass of ice. Fill remainder of glass with soda water. Squeeze lime slice (or half a lime if you’re feeling extra sassy) into drink.
Look at it, glistening in all its citrusy/bubbly/tequila glory.
The Paloma is the perfect spring cocktail. It’s still citrus + tequil, but the bubbly effervescence make this cocktail feel lighter than a balls-to-the-wall-margarita. I’m in love… and so excited that I have an entire bag of grapefruits in my fridge.
Cheers my darlings!
